As a medical anthropologist and public health practitioner whose work centers on the lived experiences and health outcomes of Black women, I deeply value the mission and significance of the VOICES of Black Women study. It is important to me that Black women’s voices, experiences, and knowledge are centered in research that seeks to understand and improve our health and well-being.
